All about Biking, Harley Davidsons, Travel, Camping and More. I love to chronicle our trips and tell what we did, where we went, what happened and the pros and cons of the places we have gone to give future travelers an idea of what to see and do.
I wanted to share a recipe I ran across in the
Quinlan-Tawakoni News and cooked this weekend. It is a fairly easy recipe to fix; at least if you have an oven or
convection oven.I cannot make any
guarantees on microwaving.
Chicken Dish
1 26 oz pkg fzn shredded hash brown potatoes, thawed
1 24 oz pkg fzn California-blend vegetables (any veggie blend would do)
3 C cubed cooked chicken (I used Tyson fajita chicken strips)
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 Cup chicken broth
¾ C French-Fried onions (I would stay away from Walmart brand;
not as good as French’s)
In a greased 13X9X2” baking dish layer the potatoes,
vegetables & chicken.
In a bowl, combine soups
& broth; pour over the chicken; the dish will be full.
Cover & Bake at 375 degree for one hour.Uncover & sprinkle with French’s onions.Return casserole to oven for an additional 10
minutes.
Remove & Serve
NOTES:
Since I was using the convection in my microwave oven I cut
the recipe in ½ and cooked it all in a 9X9X2” silicone cake-type pan.I covered it with aluminum foil while
cooking.
I am not a big eater but between the two of us there was
nothing left.Guess maybe the fresh air
makes ya hungrier.I wish I had a
picture, you will just have to use your imagination until the next time since I
still have halfies of the meat, taters & veggies.
Lastly this is such an easy recipe and QUICK to make.
Hello
future 75th Anniversary Sturgis Bike Rally visitors. It is said this year there will be more than
1 million visitors, yes you read right, 1 million visitors emerging onto
Sturgis and the surrounding Black Hill communities.I have also heard a wild rumor the Bike Week
may be 2 weeks long but again this is just a wild rumor and there have been no
“official” announcements as of yet.
What
we need to discuss next is what your top priority when going to Sturgis is?Ok, Ok to have fun but the second item on
your priority list should be lodging. Before 2014’s rally was over I found a few campgrounds already booked up
for this year AND get this; Buffalo Chip at least, is already taking reservations
for next year. What’s more amazing as I
check the sites again and again even more were SOLD OUT.Also this started out at more than 20 pages
and it continues to get increasingly smaller.
If
what I am seeing is right then there will be a deluge of bikers.Of course, it isn’t supposed to rain until we
arrive on Sunday.Glenco even went up
from $200 to $225 for the wrist bands.Unbelievable even wrist bands are even going up, up up.It appears the closer you are to Sturgis and
the action the faster the sites are going and selling out.
You
women, this is totally off subject but the Sturgis HD for one is selling the 75th
anniversary charm this year.I already
have mine reserved.
Now
back to lodging, pricing, amenities, etc.Whatever you do, please call and verify availability and pricing.

We absolutely fell in love with this location and almost were ready to
book till we found they were charging an additional $200 for the 2015 Rally for
RVs and were also charging 8.5% tax while others only charged 5.5%.What’s with that?
They
are a Good Sam RV park but I am not sure yet if they offer the Good Sm discount
or any other discounts for that matter during Rally. No 2015 pricing as of yet on their
website.Although we got a quote over
the phone and they stated it would be approximately $1,130.75.This included their tax of 8.5% and 2
wristbands.So much for staying with
them.I would rather more money to play
than to stay.
The Full Throttle
cabineers have their own general store, a cafรฉ, private showers and bath
facilities!, a free place for you to wash your bike, free
laundry facilities and free grills are also available for your use!
They say their rates are cheaper than any hotel in
Sturgis! Ask about their payment plan options! How many campgrounds
do you know of have payment plans instead of paying EVERYTHING including wrist
bands upfront?
Every
cabin is 14’ x 24’ and has its’ own front porch with seating. Your cabin
comes with two double beds or two sets bunk beds (linens provided), air
conditioning, breakfast table, microwave and apartment size refrigerator!
You also receive maid service upon request! Each cabin will sleep a maximum of
four people
Prices are
not posted on their website; you have to call to get pricing. There is no tent or RV camping; only cabins.
If I have caught the prices right, this is one campsite
that barely raised its prices as you will notice between the 2014 and 2015
prices if you take advantage of their early purchase prices. Also the cabin pictures look absolutely
awesome.I have had one friend who had
stayed there for the past 9 years. There
must be something bringing these folks back every year.
Due to the
increased numbers of attendees coming to the Sturgis rally earlier each year,
the Glencoe CampResort has extended the reservation period to include seven
full days before the official start of the Sturgis Rally.

Each RV site is 25’
wide x 75’ long, thus providing 50% more space per site than required by
South Dakota State Camping Regulations. By providing the additional space, it
allows the individual renting an RV site adequate space to park their
motorcycles and trailer along with even the largest RV’s. You may secure a
site with either 30-amp or 50-amp service with a standard RV outlet and
regular 120 volt outlet. Each site has access to a 3/4-inch water faucet
outlet, but of course, you will need to provide your own garden hose. A
four-inch sewer service is provided for each site, but again you will need to
bring an adequate, flexible sewer hose to connect your RV to our sewer
service. Our water and electrical are located at the rear of the RV sites. If
you bring a long trailer, you will need additional electric cord, water hose
and sewer hose to reach these hookups.
